YES! U.S. Leadership Jams
Grant Amount: $40000, on 10/5/12
YES! connects, inspires, and collaborates with young changemakers (primarily 18-35) who are working toward a just and sustainable world. The organization focuses on leadership growth and evolution at the juncture of individual, interpersonal, and systemic transformation. Each of its gatherings brings together approximately 30 young people for a week of community building and visioning. Emulating the musical tradition, YES! calls its trainings “jams.” When musicians get together to jam, they share their unique skills, hear and experience other styles, learn from one another, explore uncharted territory, and typically have a lot of fun. Sometimes they find new ways to collaborate that have long reaching impacts. YES! jams aim to provide that same kind of experience to advocates and organizers working on social and environmental change. YES! jams are a practical and embodied experience of the more just, thriving, inclusive, and sustainable world we want. A 2012 grant will support leadership jams on economic transformation, healing rifts in the environmental movement, food systems change, and “art-ivism” (arts and social change).
