Real Food Generation (RFG) is a movement of young people re-imagining the US food system as an engine of health, wealth, and justice by building community, developing leadership, and mobilizing around strategic campaigns. RFG currently focuses on changing food purchasing and preparation, as well as labor practices, at college cafeterias, seeking to shift $116 million in college food budgets to “real food” over the next three years. A 2012 grant will allow the organization to expand the fight for healthy, green, and fair food from university campuses to high schools, improve nutrition guidelines, increase farm-to-school funding, and share the stories of young people on the front lines of food justice.
