Mr. Eria's Ph.D. research is focused on the use of location-based services (such as cell phones and PDAs) to "empower all the stakeholders of the environment" by providing real-time information about the current and specific environmental information and to combat environmental degradation. His idea was inspired by the "Billion Tree Campaign" which was launched by Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai.
