Galo Zapata-Rios, 2008 Fellow

Galo will document presence-absence and distribution of carnivores, describe their habitat requirements, identify critical thresholds in landscape parameters beyond which occurrence of these species declines markedly, and assess the management implications of these thresholds. The results of his research will contribute to the understanding of threshold levels of habitat loss and fragmentation that result in local extinctions of sensitive wildlife species, and will be applicable broadly to large-mammal conservation.
