Esther Wanjira Nganga, 2007 Fellow

Biography:
This fall I will begin my second year as a graduate student at the Department of Public Health at Tulane University. Before attending Tulane University, I worked for ten years as a trainer and curriculum designer for various non-government agencies in Kenya, including World Vision Kenya, National Council of Churches of Kenya, Premese College, World Relief International, the Ministry of Health, and the National Population Council. I helped develop the current training manuals and study guides for youth in the area of human sexuality. I received a BA in Social Work at the University Of Nairobi in 1997. I also have a certificate of Community Health and Community Development from Premese Learning Institute.

Research Focus:
My current research interests focus on the need assessment of youth in Kajiado District, especially comparing orphans and non-orphan children. I am particularly interested in the sexual health needs of orphan children and their decisions and behaviors for reproductive health issues.
