I am a third year PhD candidate in the African History program at the University of Minnesota. I hold a B.A Honors in Economic History and an M.A in African Economic History from the University of Zimbabwe.
Research Focus: My PhD project historicizes the experiences and histories of African women who joined the nursing profession from the late 1940s onwards. An examination of the changes in the nursing profession, especially as a result of the increased entrance of young African women after the Second World War and the subsequent expansion of health facilities to Africans in urban areas in colonial Zimbabwe is used as a window to understand the socio-economic changes taking place in the colony and the complex relationships between the state, settlers, and Africans. My work intersects issues concerning health, gender, class and race in colonial Zimbabwe.
