I completed University of Ghana in May, 2002 with a second class (Upper Division). My major was in Geography and Resource Development. In July 2001, I had the opportunity to attend Model United Nations in the Netherlands and I represented South Africa in the General Assembly. My academic interest is sustainable development with concentration on environmental management and policy, more especially in sustainable livelihood projects designed to curb the negative impact of major projects such as mining and dams.
In 1993-94 when I was in secondary school, I became the president of my school’s greenearth organization. Duties included organizing environmental awareness and campaigns in farming and mining communities and also symposiums and seminars for second cycle institutions.
One of my past significant activities was that during my pre-university National service period in 1998, I formed a club that helped to educate the rural farmers in my area on how to prevent bush fires which are predominant in the area. As the president of the club, my main responsibilities included the programme design; monitoring and evaluation .My club also educated rural people on the need to protect their water bodies. My club also helped to plant about ten thousand trees in a surface diamond mining area called Ghana Consolidated Diamond Company Limited (GCD Gh. Ltd.) in the eastern par t of Ghana.
During my post university National service in 2003-2005, I worked with a local Non-Governmental organization that seeks to help promote sustainable development in rural Ghana. As a community development officer, I was responsible for monitoring and evaluating the development programmes in one rural community.
