I obtained a B.Sc. degree in Sociology from Imo State University, Okigwe, Imo State, Nigeria in 1987; an M.Sc. degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria in 1990; and an M.A. in Sociology from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 2004. I am currently in the Doctoral Program of the department of Sociology, Brown University. Professionally I was a Graduate Assistant in 1988 at Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria, and rose through promotion to become a Senior Lecturer in Sociology between 1999 and 2002. I was a research intern at the African Population and Health Research Center in Nairobi, Kenya between September 2004 and August 2005. My most recent research publications include: 1. Mberu, B.U.
