Nkem started her academic training in Nigeria. She attended high school and college in Nigeria and graduated as a medical doctor in 2002. She relocated to Ghana where she worked as an intern for two years and then came to the United States to obtain a masters degree in public health. Currently, she is researching the management of maternal health care service in a developing country and its effects on morbidity and mortality rates.
Two significant life experiences she would like to share are her work in the emergency unit in Korle-Bu teaching hospital, Ghana, and her trip to Thailand for a course on the country’s response to HIV/AIDS.
