Rosaleen Oabona Brankie Nhlekisana is from Botswana. Brankie is an advanced Ph.D. student in the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University-Bloomington. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Botswana and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has 10 years teaching experience at high school level in Botswana. She joined the oral literature section of the Department of African Languages and Literature at the University of Botswana in 1993. Currently, she is writing her dissertation on wedding songs from Botswana. Upon completion of her studies Brankie intends to go back to the University of Botswana to resume her duties as a lecturer.
