Juan is a second-year Masters student of Environmental Management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. His concentration area is environmental policy, although he is particularly interested in urban environmental policy and planning. Juan spent the summer working for the Center for Sustainable Transport at the World Resources Institute in Washington, DC. His research focuses on Transmilenio, the new bus-based transportation system of Bogotá, and the lessons that can be learned from its success and replication in Mexico City. Juan has a professional degree in Industrial Engineering with a concentration on Corporate Environmental Management, and two years experience working for Procter and Gamble Colombia. Prior to attending Yale, Juan worked for the Directorate of Environmental Policy at the National Planning Department of Colombia, where he focused on environmental indicators and information systems, as tools for decision and policy making at the national level.
