Department of International Development Community and Environment
Home Country – Ghana

Saeed is a graduate student in International Development and Social Change. Before embarking on graduate studies he worked as a Country Program Manager for a British Charity Organization, Village AiD, where he coordinated village led development activities with local partner organizations. He was also a trainer of trainers in participatory development tools and collaborated with government agencies, NGOs and other development actors to advocate for the interest of marginalized communities in reducing poverty on their own terms. Saeed has worked with Professor Richard Ford of the Center for Community-based Development at Clark on a Ghanaian field work and training exercises in a new community-based approach to poverty alleviation know as “Policy Analysis for Participatory Poverty Alleviation” (PAPPA). His current research looks at the role of community participation in strengthening sustainable development in Northern Ghana. This research seeks to consider two case study communities, one with government and NGOs intervention and the other without intervention of any kind from outside agencies.
