Dennis Twinomugisha

Dennis Twinomugisha hails from Uganda. He studied Botany and Zoology (specialising in Advanced Plant Taxonomy, Entomology and Parasitology) for his first degree which he obtained from Makerere University in 1992. In 1995 he enrolled for a M.Sc. in Zoology (vertebrate ecology) still at Makerere University. During his masters program he researched on the status and ecology of the Golden monkey; trained in bird handling and identification; carried out a field survey and research on abundance and distribution of birds in areas around L. Nabugabo; and carried out a short survey on the status of lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda, which aimed at providing background data/information for a later research project on the overall status of the lion population in the same park.

He is currently a PhD student at Makerere University Institute of Environment and Natural Resources and will research on conservation of the Golden monkey in the Virunga ranges (border area of Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic Congo). The Golden monkey is a potential tourist attraction and efforts are already under towards this objective in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
