Augustine Donkor
Augustine was born in Kumasi, Ghana. He obtained his bachelor of honors in Chemistry from University of Science and Technology, Kumasi Ghana, in 1984 and MS (Chemistry) from Flinders University, Adelaide, South Australia in 1992. He has also completed MS (Chemistry) at the University of Florida Gainesville, 2000 and currently a Ph.D student in the Department of Environment Engineering Sciences at the same university. Before entering the University of Florida in Fall 1998, Augustine held a position as a Lecturer and Researcher at Accra Polytechnic in Ghana. His research dissertation is to study geo-chemical and biological aspects of mercury contamination in selected watersheds in gold mining regions in south western Ghana, to assess and predict the potential impact of physical parameters associated with global change (eg. increasing temperatures and solar UV-B radiation reaching the earth) on mercury cycling in tropical regions, and its possible impacts on sustainable development and conservation of biodiversity in Ghana.
