Maureen Malave

Maureen Malave is an MPH candidate in Columbia University's Forced Migration / Population and Family Health Program. Maureen has a BA from Villanova University in Political Science and Spanish. She spent the summer working with the International Rescue Committee in Somaliland, Africa, where she conducted a baseline survey in the town of Burco. The survey assessed knowledge, attitudes and practices of women's reproductive health and child health. Maureen has worked with the US Peace Corps in Paraguay, South America, in water sanitation. She also worked in the Cuban refugee camps in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as an Education and Recreation program manager, and as a translator in Honduras in the relief effort after Hurricane Mitch. Domestically, she has worked with the non-profit, Hard Hatted Women, coordinating a training program for women in the building trades.
