Fellowship Program Coordinators Environment and Sustainable Development
Anne Fitzgerald
Anne is the director of Anne Fitzgerald Associates, a consulting practice specializing in the design and management of fellowship programs focusing on the areas of environment and sustainable development, international development, and social action. Since 1985, Anne has provided leadership and consultation to inform foundations and non-profit organizations in the design, development and assessment of both domestic and international programs. Anne has coordinated national and international policy-level conferences on such topics as global environmental challenges and trends, preservation of genetic diversity and South African land reform policies. Anne attended the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) and the Women’s Forum in Bejing, China. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Development Group for Alternative Policies (DGAP), and the International Rivers Network (IRN). Anne has traveled and worked in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. She holds a BA degree in Spanish from Immaculata College and an MA degree in Education from Ohio State University and has completed course work towards a masters in Ethnoecology. Peace and Security
Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change Karen is Associate Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC), where she teaches in and administers the MacArthur Program's Development Studies and Social Change Ph.D. minor program. She also administers other program of ICGC including the Compton Peace Fellows Program and serves on the Graduate Faculty in the Department of Women's Studies. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science at Minnesota. Her research and teaching interests focus on international feminist theory, international women's and children's human rights, international norms and conflict resolution, and gender and citizenship. Policy Communications Analyst Sara Adkins-Blanch is a Policy Communications Analyst at the Population Reference Bureau. She has more than 10 years of experience in supporting communication and capacity building activities for developing country audiences. Among others, she (1) coordinates and conducts training workshops in developing countries to provide communication skills that enable researchers and activists working on population and health issues to increase the use of research results for the improvement of policies and programs; (2) contributes to planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating media activities as part of PRB's international media program; (3) coordinates the translation of selected PRB publications and web material into foreign languages; and (4) develops print materials designed to communicate population and reproductive health research findings and data to in-country audiences. She has an MA in Foreign Languages from West Virginia University and a BA in English from the University of Barcelona, Spain. |
